AI ToolsNetwork Access & Routes

First check which regions the service supports, then keep your exit region consistent throughout the session. Web chats, code completion and API calls each need separate checks for login flows, streaming responses and the environment where they actually run.

VPNTU covers 110+ countries with 180+ routes and supports Windows / macOS / iOS / Android / Linux, with no device limit. No email address is required to create a VPNTU account; a username and password are all you need. Check each AI tool's official guidance for its own account requirements.

AI access network requirements

A page loading only shows that some requests can get through. Login, model responses, file uploads and downloads may each use different request paths.

Region Detection and Exit Consistency

AI services may use the exit IP's region, account details, organization permissions and product availability to determine access. Web products and developer platforms may also follow different regional rules. Before choosing a route, check the product's official list of supported regions instead of relying on the route name alone. An exit in a particular region does not mean your account is eligible to use that product.

Try to keep the exit region consistent during login and ongoing use. If something goes wrong, check the current route, whether your browser traffic is proxied and whether a background app is using a different exit before switching routes. Frequent changes between regions make troubleshooting harder to compare and may trigger additional account checks. International routes can improve the connection path, but they do not grant account access or override a provider's terms of service.

Streaming Responses and Persistent Connections

Live text in a chat and continuous code completion depend on responses streaming back over an open connection—not just on a request being sent successfully. A local network change, a proxy rule that misses a request or an intermediary closing the connection early can cause output to start and then stop. When comparing routes, test the entire task, including completion, file handling and follow-up prompts; homepage load time alone is not enough.

VPNTU describes its security approach as quantum encryption. Connection protection and an AI service's account policies are separate matters. Handle anything submitted to an AI tool according to its data-handling rules and your organization's confidentiality requirements.

Tool and route comparison

Use this table to guide route selection; it is not a guarantee of availability. Route names are configuration examples only. Check the current route and exit in the dashboard, then verify the connection in practice.

Tool × Route Requirements
Tool Check First Route to Try Test the Full Task
ChatGPT Supported regions, login session and continuous output Choose a stable exit in a supported region; Japan IEPL is one option to consider. Check the region policy before use. After logging in, complete a conversation, a follow-up prompt and any required file operations.
Claude Regional eligibility, changes in exit region and account verification prompts Stay in a region allowed by the product policy; US IEPL is one option to consider. Confirm that login and long-form output both complete.
Gemini Google account eligibility, region and login redirects Keep login and model requests in the same region; test web and API access separately. Check the model response after completing account authorization.
Copilot The actual entry point for the web product or GitHub developer tool Check login domains and plugin requests for the specific product; don't proxy only the browser. Test web chat and IDE completion separately.
Midjourney Web or Discord entry point, account permissions and asset loading Choose a stable route in a supported region that can complete authorization and transfer images. Check task status and confirm the final image loads.
Cursor Desktop app, authorization callback and streaming model requests Confirm the app process actually uses the selected exit; browser connectivity alone isn't enough. Complete login, code completion and chat output.

The same tool may have different entry points

ChatGPT's web account and API platform have different billing, permissions and connection entry points. Check Gemini's web app and developer API separately too. Claude's regional checks and account environment deserve separate attention. If you see a region notice, check the official policy first rather than assuming every rejection is caused by route speed. For more on exit regions and connection habits, see Claude VPN: Route Recommendations and How to Choose.

Copilot may refer to Microsoft's web assistant or the GitHub Copilot developer tool, so identify the product before troubleshooting. For Midjourney, check authorization and asset requests for the web or Discord entry point you're using. A working Cursor editor interface doesn't mean its model connection is established; check whether generation requests reach the service and responses continue streaming.

Sign-in and login

Treat login failures, unsupported-region notices and interrupted model connections as separate issues.

Before creating an AI tool account, confirm its official signup page, currently supported regions and eligibility requirements. Follow the provider's official process and don't assume VPNTU's account requirements apply to the AI tool. Never enter login credentials on an untrusted page. VPNTU doesn't require an email address; whether a third-party tool requires one, organization authorization or other eligibility is up to that provider.

Once login starts, stay on the current route and wait for the authorization page to return to the original app. If the browser shows successful authorization but the desktop app is still waiting, check the app callback, local security software and client proxy settings. Don't create another account right away or switch exits at each authorization redirect; both the session and network conditions would change.

If a verification challenge appears, follow the provider's official instructions. If you still can't pass, consult its help center or contact its support team. Clearing site data ends the current login session, so do it only to rule out a stale session; it won't change regional restrictions. Changing your browser language or device time zone doesn't establish regional eligibility either. Focus troubleshooting on the actual exit region, account status and specific error message.

Web Apps vs. APIs

A working website doesn't mean your command-line setup is correct, and an API rejection isn't necessarily an international route problem.

Web Requests

A browser needs to load page assets, follow account redirects, receive chat responses and transfer attachments. Extensions, cached site data and split-tunneling rules can all affect the result. In developer tools, distinguish failed login-domain requests from model API calls and static assets.

API Requests

API calls also require valid credentials, model permissions, account balance or quota, and a correctly formatted request. Handle authentication errors and quota limits through the developer platform; investigate the network path only for connection timeouts.

Streaming Responses

Streaming requests require the client and every intermediary to keep reading the response. If you operate your own gateway, check response buffering, connection timeouts and cancellation behavior so the app doesn't wait for the full result after the model has started responding.

When troubleshooting an API issue, record the error type, time, model name and runtime environment. Remove credentials, user prompts and private addresses before sharing logs. A route plan covers network connectivity only; it doesn't include third-party AI subscriptions, model quotas or API fees. Changing your VPNTU plan won't fix billing or model authorization issues on an AI platform.

Developer environment setup

Check the exit used by each process: browsers, terminals, IDEs, containers and CI jobs may not share proxy settings.

Command Line and SDKs

First check the local proxy protocol, listening address and port in your client. Then configure a proxy according to the SDK's official documentation. Some programs read HTTPS_PROXY, HTTP_PROXY and NO_PROXY; others require an explicit proxy transport or use system network settings. Don't assume every SDK reads the same environment variables, or use an HTTP proxy address as if it were a SOCKS proxy.

Environment variables are usually read when a process starts. After changing them, restart the terminal or running process and check whether another setting overrides them. In a container, the loopback address points to the container itself, not automatically to the host client; use an address reachable within your network setup and limit the listening scope. Don't disable TLS verification to troubleshoot certificate errors. Check the system clock, certificate trust chain and any relevant enterprise network settings instead.

IDE Plugins and Cursor

The editor's main process, plugin host and login browser may use different settings. Complete the login callback first, then test code completion and chat. If only the plugin fails, check its proxy support, the editor's network settings and relevant logs. Restart the editor before testing again so an older process doesn't keep using its previous environment. Organization-managed devices must also follow organizational network and data policies.

CI and Remote Execution

CI jobs run on remote runners. Connecting VPNTU on your local computer doesn't change a remote job's exit. Configure a compliant outbound path, proxy access and server-side credential handling in the runner environment. Store credentials in protected CI variables, limit log output and inject them using the platform's supported methods. Never commit credentials to a repository or place them in a frontend page.

Set bounded retries and backoff for connection failures, and distinguish network interruptions from service rate limits and authentication errors. For requests that could create duplicate jobs or charges, confirm that the API supports idempotency before enabling automatic retries. International routes can improve the transport path, but they don't replace application-level error handling, concurrency management or task recovery.

Common issues and troubleshooting

Identify the stage where the issue occurs. Change one network condition at a time, then compare results by repeating the same task.

The homepage loads, but login says your region isn't supported?

Homepage assets may follow different rules from login or model API requests. Check the product's official supported regions, your actual exit region and account eligibility. Then make sure split tunneling hasn't sent login requests through a different exit. Choose a region that complies with the policy and keep the session consistent. If access is still denied, follow the provider's account support process; a route name is not proof of eligibility.

Output starts normally, then stalls or disconnects?

Possible causes include local network instability, a client switching routes, an intermediary closing the connection or an issue with the tool itself. Keep the exit unchanged, rule out device sleep and network changes, then check whether the same task repeatedly stalls. For APIs, also check client timeouts, how responses are read and gateway buffering. A homepage that loads normally doesn't rule out a streaming connection issue.

Web chat works, but command-line requests time out?

First check whether the terminal process is actually using a proxy and whether the SDK supports the current proxy protocol. Verify environment variables, the program's transport settings and split-tunneling rules. Check the network exit separately for containers, remote terminals and CI. A successful browser test proves only that the browser's route is reachable—not that other processes are configured correctly.

API returns an authentication error or quota limit?

Check that the credentials are valid, the project has the right model permissions, and billing and quota are in order on the developer platform. Receiving a specific API error means the request reached a response endpoint; start by addressing the error itself. Don't try to fix authentication with frequent route changes or repeated retries, which can multiply failed requests.

Chat works, but attachments or generated images won't load?

Attachments and images may use separate upload, storage or delivery domains. Check whether the failed request went through the proxy, whether a local extension blocked it and whether the file meets the tool's requirements. Keep the same exit while retesting the affected feature; don't test text chat alone. When contacting support, don't include subscription links, API credentials or original attachments containing sensitive information.

For help diagnosing a VPNTU connection issue, submit the platform, client status, selected route, affected stage and a redacted error report through the dashboard support ticket. Contact the relevant AI provider about AI account restrictions, model permissions and product billing. For general connection questions, see the Help Center.

Choose a route for each use case

Start with an exit region allowed by the product policy, then test the complete task. Once it works, avoid unnecessary region changes.

For everyday web chats, compare how well IEPL, relay and direct routes complete tasks within supported regions. Japan IEPL is one option to consider for ChatGPT, and US IEPL for Claude, but check each product's latest policy first. For developer workflows, focus on whether the terminal, IDE and remote runner use consistent settings. For long-form generation and code completion, prioritize uninterrupted output over homepage load speed.

During peak hours, keep the task, device and exit region consistent while comparing routes. A route that works well on your current network may perform differently with another provider or at another time. IEPL, relay and direct describe types of network paths; none of them proves that an AI service permits access. See the International Routes and Locations page for route examples and explanations.

Choose a plan based on your data needs, not on whether a particular tier supposedly supports a particular model. Monthly plans: ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, and ¥28/month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on the activation date; mid-cycle upgrades are prorated for the remaining days. Occasional users can compare data packs: ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB and ¥658/3000GB. Data packs remain valid indefinitely until used. Text, attachments and asset transfers all affect usage; check the dashboard for actual consumption.

VPNTU has no device limit, supports Alipay / WeChat / USDT, and offers a 60-day no-questions-asked refund. If you switch between computers and mobile devices, verify the client exit and AI login status on each device. After logging in, get the client and subscription from the dashboard and keep your subscription link secure. See the Plans page for pricing and billing details. Once you've chosen a route, you can use it for everyday chats, asset handling and development tasks.
